Cutting Carbon Isn't Rocket Science
Look, we've been working with everyday Canadians for years now. Truth is, most of us want to do our part for the planet but get lost in the weeds. No fancy jargon here - just practical ways to shrink your carbon footprint without upending your whole life.
Who we are?
We're just a bunch of regular folks who got sick of all the doom and gloom talk about climate change without any practical solutions. Started this whole thing back in 2018 from a small office in Ottawa — well, calling it an office is being generous. More like a converted garage with terrible heating.
Our team comes from all sorts of backgrounds. Engineers, teachers, former oil rig workers (yeah, for real), and everyday people who just want to make a difference. Not exactly the environmental scientists you'd expect, right? That's kinda the point.
Most advice out there feels like it's written for people with endless time and money. Buy an electric car! Install solar panels! Completely overhaul your entire life! That's not helpful for most Canadians.
We focus on the stuff that actually works for regular people. Small changes that add up. No judgement if you're not perfect — none of us are. We still drive cars sometimes and occasionally forget our reusable bags. Life happens.

Why Cutting Carbon is very important?
Local Impact
We've seen it right here in Ottawa. Flooding's gotten worse, summers are hotter than they used to be. Remember 2019? My basement got six inches of water. Twice. Wasn't even in a flood zone according to the old maps. This isn't some distant problem anymore.
Economic Sense
Look, I'm not gonna lie and tell you this is all about saving money. But we've helped hundreds of families cut their energy bills by 15-30%. One family saved over $800 last year just from the changes we suggested. That's a decent vacation right there.
Future Generations
Bit of a cliche, yeah, but it's true. Got two kids myself. The world they're gonna inherit is looking pretty different from the one I grew up in. The stuff we do now? It matters. Not in some abstract way, but in real concrete terms for the people we care about most.
Community Resilience
When we help neighbrhoods reduce carbon, they become stronger in other ways too. People share resources, check on eachother during extreme weather. The community garden we helped start in Westboro now feeds over 30 families. It's not just about carbon - it's about building something better.
Every ton of carbon we keep out of the atmosphere makes a difference. Not because some report says so, but because we've seen the results firsthand.
Our Cutting Carbon solution..
Home Energy
Simple stuff first. We helped Marie in Vanier cut her heating bill by 23% just by sealing some leaks and adjusting her furnace. Took about 3 hours total. No fancy equipment needed.
Transportation
Not everyone can ditch their car, we get it. But combining trips saved the Thompsons about 60L of gas a month. Thats real carbon reduction without major lifestyle changes.
Food Choices
Just eating whats in season and local can make a huge difference. Nobody's saying go vegan overnight (unless you want to). Small switches add up quick.
